For the 2025–2026 intake, the National Institute of Education (NIE) has extended the application deadlines for its Master of Education (M.Ed.) and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programs.
The 18-month, part-time PGDE program, which is a Level 08 Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework (SLQF) degree, is intended to improve the leadership and pedagogical abilities of educators, including instructors, lecturers, education officers, and administrative personnel. The PGDE application deadline, which was originally scheduled to finish on March 31, 2025, has been moved to April 11, 2025.
The application date for the M.Ed. program, which is an SLQF Level 09 qualification that leads to further academic advancement, has also been extended, from March 31, 2025, to April 4, 2025. Experienced educators who want to improve their professional qualifications and career opportunities can enroll in this part-time program.
With a few courses given in English, both programs are available in Sinhala and Tamil. To accommodate working professionals, NIE offers flexible learning choices at several study sites throughout the island.
